Toyota Motor Corp. will be opening a new plant in Blue Springs, Mississippi in 2010. More importantly, it will be the first Toyota plant in the North American market to manufacture the supra-popular Prius hybrid.
Most of the employees will be trained is in Georgetown, Kentucky. Still, some new ones may travel to Japan to visit the company’s Tsutsumi plant. There, they will watch the Prius being assembled.
Toyota has hired some hourly workers for the new plant that include maintenance and skilled trades personnel. Most of the line workers, though, won’t be hired until the spring of 2010.
