Austin TX. Formual 1
Not only was this my first time flying, it was basically my first time out of the wonderful state of California (excluding a brief visit to Ensenada Mexico which was part of a cruise I went on).
Got my bags ready.
Foxy knew I was going to be gone for a bit (6 days).
I was walking down the entry gate thing, looking at JohnL to take this photo, and straight ran into this short round woman in front of me, Knocked her down. I apologized of course, and she didn't even really care, she laughed.
Over Monument Valley.
This is my phone background.
Wednesday November 14th we arrived late, Our nice hosts picked us up from the airport, and we just chilled at their place for the night.
Thursday, we hopped on the absolute most fantastic public transportation system I've ever seen, or heard of. Buses run every 15 minutes, then in the middle of the night they go to every hour. EVERY HOUR! IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GOT DAMN NIGHT. Fresno's buses in the busiest part of the day run every hour. FUCKED.
So any way, we ventured around the city, drank.
Friday went to a practice session at the All new Track, Circuit of the America's.
We took a free shuttle from downtown Austin, to the track. Had to wait in line a bit to get on a bus, but they had a constant line of charter buses picking people up. But, then, we get dropped off, AT LEAST a mile from the track, every one is walking up to this place in gravel, or compacted dirt. It was something.
So whatever, we go to the practice, then we go back to downtown Austin, and drink, we end up going to a show, then head back to the place we were staying.
Saturday we woke up late, and didn't want to deal with bullshit to see another practice. So we hung around, then went downtown and drank like mugs.
This is a board I took from some place, and set there.
I told JohnL to get in this car, so he did. I later realized it didn't have a nose.
Drunk.
Pizza.
This was some sort of car.
That JohnL totally straddled.
I wanted to sit in an F1 car as well, so thusly I did. They had some sort of device in the way, so I couldn't straighten my legs.
JohnL has the camera now.
I said to JohnL, "hey, Imma kick the shit outta this." Turned out, it was WOOD. so I ran.
John lost me for a little bit, but man, he had taken some interesting, and well timed shots.
Jackin' off to the new fiat 500.
Trying to act not impressed my the OG fiat 500, but for real, I love this car.
She was the one who wanted to take the picture, I was like alright, whatever.
We hopped in this golf cart with these girls, they ended up taking us to a got damn temporary office. No alcohol so we bounced.
Let me remind you, most of this is BLACK OUT status. Looks like I attempted to sit in the car again. Didn't even take my camera bag off.
This club sorta sucked. It was poppin', but idk, just didn't feel right. PLUS, that ma-fuckin' DJ fucked his own self in the fuckin' ass by fuckin' up, and cutting short CALIFORNIA LOVE. JohnL and I were fucking PISSED! Then this girl wanted a photo with johnL, so I took it... Then JohnL gets kicked out of the "dj booth" which was just a step up....
THATS WHEN WE GOT ROWDY.
Started yelling fuck texas, and all sorts a shit.
So we head back to the place we were staying, tried to get in on some McDonalds that is just up the street, I think the inside was closed, but they didn't lock the patio door, so we went in, and they served us.
Now it was race day.
We had moved around the track, checked out different areas to watch from. Towards the end of the race we went to set up at a spot that was near the exit. Luckily we were able to witness Lewis Hamilton's over take of Vettel. (Vettel would become this years champion in Brazil, the next and final race of the season). It was pretty awesome to be able to just see these legendary drivers. Michael Schumacher, sebastian vettel, Fernando Alonso, Sergio Perez, Kamui Kobayashi, Kimi Raikkonen. So amazing.
Now, what I didn't explain, was prior to the race, we took our back packs to the airport, went ahead and checked them, so we wouldn't have to carry them around the racetrack (Austin airport doesn't have lockers).
We bounce from the race, get to the airport, our Austin to Dallas flight is delayed 50 minutes. We miss our Dallas to Fresno flight... So American Airlines puts us up in a hotel (without any of our shit remember, we checked it).
The next early morning we catch a flight from Dallas to Seattle. Yes, Seattle.
Then we flew Seattle to Fresno. It was a good flight. Dude, Alaskan Airlines is LEGIT!
That's a good looking weather front.
Flew over Lake Tahoe, big motha fuckin' lake.
Yeah, so got back like 4 or something to Fresno. Luggage wasn't there. I had to wait until Thursday to get it. Whatev.
It was a good time. I do regret taking so much time off of work. I would make it a shorter trip next time.
But this trip has definitely opened doors for me traveling by air to other places. I liked flying quite a bit.
